Play based learning in Room 10 - Opening the world up for Creating Critical, Creative, and Innovative learners.
What does play based learning mean - well it basically means children learn through play. There is no limit to what can be done. They follow their interest with the support of the teacher, allowing the children to lead the play with the teacher providing opportunities to extend on this in a variety of ways. Children learn in so many different ways that there is no set way to play. Children freely and safely explore their environment, expressing themselves that is comfortable to them. It is an opportunity for children to make new discoveries, learn new ways of doing things and know that it is okay to change the direction of their own play. Play based learning is extended through open ended questions, observations, listening and allowing the children grow and gain confidence in what ever they are doing.
Play based learning links imagination and real life situations, providing a great way for children to build on their social development as they share ideas through their play and investigations within their surroundings.
